Illustrated with a frontispiece and twelve plates. Collated complete. A charming commentary on The Worshipful Company of Musicians, one of the Livery Companies of the City of London. Its history dates back to at least 1350, originally as a specialist guild for musicians. During the eighteenth century, when the centre of music making in London moved from the city to the West End, it became a general guild for figures in the city. But the musical element was revived in the late nineteenth century. With two inserts, being a plan of table and programme of English music performed as Stationers’ Hall in January 1910.
