Written by British geographer and meteorologist, Hugh Robert Mill. An influential figure in the field, Mill was notably a friend and confidante to Ernest Shackleton and wrote the first full length biography on the explorer.
This work acts as a comprehensive account of the Antarctic region, covering many of the most notable expeditions to the treacherous landscape, including those undertaken by Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen.

In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Damp staining to boards, heavier to rear board. Bumping to extremities, resulting in splitting to head and tail of the spine. Rear hinge strained. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages.
