Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon

The first edition of this uncommon work.

Dated using Jisc from copies of the work held at the British Library.

This charming tale tells the story of poor Amelia Jane, an accident-prone little girl who's day seems to go from one mishap to another, as she trips over a fence, falls in the pond and tumbles into some laundry.

Written and illustrated by painter and children's illustrator, Kathleen Ainslie, who was best known for her series of books featuring Dutch peg dolls, one of which is present in this story as Amelia's doll Catherine Susan.

Illustrated with fourteen bright colour plates to demonstrate Amelia's chaotic day. Collated, complete.

Bound in the publisher's pictorial wraps, with the original cord to hold the work together.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's original wraps. Externally, very good, with slight age toning causing a little darkening to the wraps. The odd mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and age toned, as is expected with the paper used. One or two light handling or pencil marks.
