Among his most famous works are his children's novel 'The Midnight Folk' and his poems 'The Everlasting Mercy', and 'Sea-fever'. Masefield met his future wife, Constance de la Cherois Crommelin, when he was 23. A well educated woman, Constance studied both classics, and English literature, as well as acting as a Maths teacher.

Condition

In vellum binding. Externally smart. Missing its original ribbons. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Rubbing to the spine, mainly to the raised bands. Rubbing to the front and rear boards. Spotting to the front and rear boards, and to the spine. Previous owners date inscription to the front board reads 'May 7th '06'. Slight offsetting to the front and rear pastedowns and endpapers, with some spotting also to the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns. Pages are generally clean, with the odd spot throughout.
