In the publisher's original cloth. The first edition was published in at least three bindings, with various levels of ornamentation, with this being the variant with a gilt emblem to the spine and front.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally smart with a slight lean, minor edge wear and slight damp staining to the head of the front board. Lacking front free endpaper, with offsetting to the rear. Internally generally firmly bound with the odd page starting with bright pages and the odd spot.
