A wonderful copy of Hugh Thomson's illustrated edition of Oliver Goldsmith's 'The Vicar of Wakefield', in a full morocco signed binding by Spottiswoode & Co.
First published in 1766, this humorous and satirical work was one of the most popular eighteenth century novels amongst Victorian readers.
The sixth impression of Thomson's edition, which was first published in 1890.
With the armorial bookplate of Sir Timothy Eden - brother of British Prime Minister Anthony Eden - to the front pastedown, and an inscription dedicated to T. E. Eden, dated December 19th 1910, to a front blank.

In a full morocco signed binding. A touch of rubbing to tail of fore edge of front board, otherwise externally fine. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Inscription to front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
