A lovely copy of Charles Edmund Brock's illustrated edition of Oliver Goldsmith's 'The Vicar of Wakefield', in the publisher's deluxe edition full vellum binding, elaborately decorated in gilt.
First published in 1766, this humorous and satirical work was one of the most popular eighteenth century novels amongst Victorian readers.
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and title page from Brock, along with twenty-three further plates. Collated, complete.
With the illustrated bookplate of Kitty Beatson Miller to the verso of a front blank.
Condition
In the publisher's original vellum binding with gilt detailing. Externally, lovely, with back strip a touch age toned. Internally, firmly bound. Bookplate to verso of a front blank, with light offsetting to half title. Otherwise, pages exceptionally clean and bright.
