With six pages of publisher's advertisements to the back of the book.

From celebrated Victorian author George Gissing. The Private Papers of Henry Ryecroft was first published in 1903, the same year as his death. This edition was published posthumously.

This acclaimed work is a semi-fictional autobiographical account of the fabricated character Henry Ryecroft. Gissing inserts himself as the editor but draws from his own experience to write Ryecroft's story. The book became particularly successful in Japan not long after publication.
