This novella, described by Dickens as "quiet and domestic [...] innocent and pretty", is the third of his five Christmas books, in which a cricket oversees John Peerybingle, a slow but honest carrier, his wife Dot and their infant son, its chirps reflecting the family's happiness.
Condition
Bound in full limp suede. Externally, with spots visible to the leather, otherwise smart, with minimal shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper and offsetting to the pastedowns.
