What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A facsimile reissue of both volumes by Henry Frowde.

Limited edition numbered copies out of the 250 that were printed. Both volumes are No. 26.

With etched vignette titles and illustrations by the prominent 19th century illustrator, George Cruiksank. Eleven plates to volume I and nine plates to volume II. Collated complete.

These tales, translated from the original German by Edgar Taylor, were collected by Jacob and Willhelm Grimm for a period of years.

The translations were initially published anonymously by Taylor, and he wrote to the Grimms that his translations were for 'the amusement of some young friends principally in view'.

It is regarded by many as the first modern illustrated children's book.

The stories to this work include 'Hansel and Grettel', 'The Frog Prince', 'Rumplestiltskin', 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Rapunzel'.
