Edith Nesbit's beloved children's classic, 'Five Children and It' follows a group of five siblings as they move from London to the Kent countryside. Whilst playing together they discover Psammead, a grumpy and ugly sand-fairy, who has the ability to grant their wishes.
This novel was first serialised as short stories in the 'Strand'. The children and It reappear in the sequels 'The Phoenix and the Carpet' and 'The Story of the Amulet'.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Spine is a little faded. Some marks to the boards resulting in discolouration, and with a few small tide marks to the rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small crack to the rear joint. Front hinge is strained, rear hinge is starting. Gift inscription in pencil to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. Collated, bound without one plate, facing page 35. Plate facing page 143 is detaching.
