A commemorative programme of the Encaenia ceremony held on 22 June 1904 at the Sheldonian Theatre. Populated by such noteworties as the Chancellor Lord Hawkurst himself, Lord Tennyson, Charles Booth, John Singer Sargent, Lord Balfour, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, this volume records the proceedings of the meeting of the University Convocation for Encaenia (the awarding of honourary higher degrees). Includes the text of the Crewe and Convocation speeches, as well as remarks on the accomplishments of individual recipients as they had their degrees conferred.
Condition
Bound in calf. Worn. Blue colour with gilt lettering, bordering, and armorial vignettes of the University of Oxford. Worn at all extremities and rubbed and slightly worn to boards. Internally, binding tender with two gatherings disbound. Pages generally very bright and clean (notwithstanding dusting and some marks to extremities of margins).
