An uncommon first edition copy of this 1904 work.
Bound in paper vellum, and decorated with an elegant gilt motif to front board, gilt top edge, and gilt lettering to spine.
This copy is one of a limited print run of 100 that were printed on Whatman's handmade paper, of which this is number 8.
Signed to the colophon by publisher T. N. Foulis.
This title belongs to a selection of works published as the 'World of Art' series between 1904-1913.
Featuring a monochrome frontispiece, and 28 further monochrome plates, in addition to occasional vignette illustrations.
Collated, complete.

Condition
Bound in full paper vellum. Externally, smart. The odd mark to boards. Fading to spine, and board extremities. Slight rubbing to spine. Small loss to binding to head, where joints are slightly starting. Newspaper review of the book tipped in to front free endpaper. Bookplate to front paste down. Slight age toning to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. p.7-10 loose, slotted inside. Pages generally bright and clean, very occasional handling marks.
