What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first UK edition of this work from Geil, an American evangelist, explorer, lecturer and photographer. He is believed to be the first American to have travelled the entire length of the Ming section of the Great Wall of China.

Illustrated with ninety-nine photographic plates, each featuring a number of images. Collated, lacking the plate which should appear between pages 208 and 209, which featured three images.

A fascinating account of the author's travels through Shanghai and Burma, with discussion of the Yangtze Gorges, Chinese interpreters, copper mining, and opium.

The scarce first UK edition.
