Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this beautiful volume comprising one-hundred illustrations by Mortimer Menpes, and descriptions Dorothy Menpes. First published in 1903 simultaneously to a limited deluxe edition.

This book contains impressions that the pair had of children from different countries as they travelled around the world, discussing the attitudes towards them and their role in society. 

Complete with frontispice and one-hundred coloured illustrations.

Condition

In the publisher's original aquamarine pictorial cloth binding, with titles and decorations stamped in gilt to front board and spine. Externally handsome, with minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Spine has slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. Occasional handling mark and the odd spot, otherwise pages are generally clean throughout. Complete with frontispice and one-hundred coloured illustrations.
