This historical novel centres around a young English boy named Arthur Hallet, who enlists in the famous British Legion after difficulty at school, where he then embarks for Spain to take part in repressing the Carlist uprising of 1836.
Written by G. A. Henty, an English novelist and war correspondent who is best known for a prolific output of historical and adventure novels, earning him his reputation as the most popular Boy's author of his day and inspiring other other writers to attempt writing juvenile adventure stories in his style, including Herbert Strang, Percy F. Westerman and Henry Everett McNeil.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with a damp stain to the front board and mild rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Slight cocking to the spine. Contemporary prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, with occasional cracking to the gutters, however remains largely firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with scattered spots to the first and last few leaves.
