Illustrated throughout by the noted 'Phiz' (H. K. Browne) with a frontispiece and 39 plates. Collated complete. 

This work was written by the popular Charles Dickens and features the well known tale of David Copperfield, which follows the character's life and adventures. The work is semi-autobiographical, with Dickens interweaving events from his own life and is said to be his favourite work he wrote. 

Bound in half diced calf with cloth to the boards.

Undated, dated by a copy held at the British Library.

Condition

Bound in half diced calf with cloth to the boards. Externally very smart with marks to the boards, very slight cracking to the spine, front boards slightly bowed and very minor bumping to the extremities to the tail of the boards. Bookplate to the front pastedown belonging to a 'Paul Vellacott' with tidemarks to the label. Internally firmly bound with pages lightly age toned to the extremities and the odd spot, heavier to the blanks. Tidemarks to the tail of the blanks with very minor tidemarks to the tail of the first few pages.
