An early Rackham edition of this work, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with blind-stamping to the front board and spine. Without the pink paper as called for in the first edition.

Ink inscription to the front free end paper, awarding this book as a prize for attendance to Congregational Sunday School, dated 1905.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and a further seven colour plates by the renowned Golden Age book illustrator Arthur Rackham (1867-1939). Collated, complete.

An uplifting children's novel about Christian morality, by Lady Louisa Lilias Plunket Greene (1833-1891), an Irish author of children's stories. Illustrated with early examples of Arthur Rackham's illustrations.

Undated, dated from copies held at the British Library and from the two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the volume.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with fading to the spine and a small bump to the upper extremities of the rear and front boards. Front hinge is slightly strained but held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned but clean.
