Description

Leather Binding

A Roycroft edition of one of Shakespeare's comedies.

'As You Like It' was first published in the First Folio, and is believed to have been written in 1599. The play is a pastoral comedy, following the heroine as she flees persecution in her uncle's court. It's unknown when the play was first performed, though the first recorded performance was at Wilton House in 1603.

This play contains one of Shakespeare's most famous speeches, "All the World's a Stage", given by the melancholy traveller Jaques.

With borders and headpieces by Samuel Warner, presswork by Otto Franz.
