A charming volume looking at the beautiful picturesque scenes of England, through the paintings of well known Victorian watercolourist Helen Allingham. The striking places in this volume depict idyllic rural scenes and family life in England, with a memoir and descriptive text by Marcus B. Huish.

Bookplate of British jurist and politician, John Charles Bigham (1840-1929), 1st Viscount Mersey, to front paste down.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight tear to cloth at front joint. The odd slight handling mark to boards. Slight discolouration and soiling to boards, more so to rear board. Slight discolouration to spine. Front hinge slightly cracked, but firm. Rear hinge cracked, with binding material partially exposed, but holding. Slight offsetting with scattered spotting to endpapers. Bookplates of John Charles Bigham and Mrs. A. S. Bates to front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places, but firm. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot.
