Each fable in this edition is accompanied by a full-page grey-tone illustration on yellow paper, by Charles Livingston Bull. With four further colour illustrations, two of which feature on the endpapers of this edition. Collated, Complete.

This edition features 50 of Aesop's fables, reimagined in verse to appeal to younger readers. Fables include: "Androcles", "Ass in the Lion's Skin", "Belling the Cat", "Dog in a Manger", "Fox and the Cat", "Frog and the Ox", "Hare and the Tortoise", "Lion and the Mouse", "Milkmaid and her Pail", "Swallow and the Other Birds", "Wolf and the Kid", and "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", to name a few.

Charles Livingston Bull (1874–1932) was an American illustrator well known for his illustrations of wildlife. Bull studied taxidermy in Rochester, New York, no doubt contributing to his skill in illustrating animals.

Aesop was a storyteller who is thought to have lived in ancient Greece around the 6th century BCE. He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty, wisdom and kindness. These fables have become enduring classics, continuing to be shared with generation after generation.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Rubbing to boards and extremities. Bumping to extremities. One or two handling marks to boards. The odd spot and one or two faint handling marks to endpapers. Rear hinges of rear endpapers strained. Small closed tear to rear free endpaper reinforced by tape. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edge.
