Illustrated with a total of four hundred plates, coloured by hand.

Volume one contains sixty-two plates, volume two contains seventy plates, volume three contains sixty-four plates, volume four contains sixty-eight plates, volume five contains sixty-eight plates, and volume six contains sixty-eight plates. Collated, complete.

A detailed and comprehensive history of British ornithology, written to collect together all the known facts respecting the natural history of each and every British bird. This easily readable work provides figures on several special and corrects common misconceptions about others.

Written by Francis Orpen Morris, an Anglo-Irish clergyman, notable as a "parson-naturalist" for his work in ornithology and entomology. He was the author of many books on natural history, heritage buildings, and some children's books.

With handwritten bookplates to front pastedowns, and the stamp of La Societe Guernsiase Library to front free endpapers.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip heads and tails, otherwise externally excellent. A touch of fading to tail of front board of volume VI. Bookplates to front pastedowns, and stamps to front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, and generally clean, with only the odd spot.
