Mortimer Menpes was a British painter, illustrator and printmaker. He created a form of colour etching, as well as publishing 'War Impressions', the first book to reproduce coloured art works faithfully, making him a pioneer of illustrated art books. He travelled prolifically to Japan, China, Burma, Mexico, India and Palestine, producing many art works inspired by and undertaken during his trips, and publishing a number of similar volumes detailing other travel destinations.
With one hundred colour plates as well as line drawings in the text by Mortimer Menpes.

Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a touch discoloured, with some occasional slight bumping. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
