The first edition of the fourth volume of Colonel John Davis's The History of the Second Queen's Royal Regiment, covering the years 1800-1837. Signed with a message by Davis.
In the publisher's original decorative blue cloth, with a frontispiece of Edward VII. Contains all other fifty three illustrations, which includes campaign maps, and four charming colour plates. Collated complete.
In the fourth volume of his comprehensive history, Davis retells the fascinating endeavours of his regiment during the Napoleonic Wars and up to the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign. At the heart of British action, the regiment's history includes their roles at the Egyptian campaign as well as the Peninsula War.
Condition
In the publisher's original decorative blue cloth. Externally, smart. Marks to the boards, and slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Small lift to cloth at head of spine. Minor shelf wear. Yellow end papers are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to rear end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with spotting to extremities of the occasional leaf. Heaviest to blanks and leaves of pp.17-17, 113. Final leaves to back of index and leaves pp.145-152 are unopened.
