A charming and thrilling children's tale from Hesketh Hesketh-Prichard, with assistance from his mother, Kate O'Brien Ryall Prichard. It was Hesketh's first published work, sold to Pall Mall Magazine for a guinea in 1896.
The novel culminates in the titular duel between the Englishman Tammer, and the Frenchman with whom he has a longstanding enmity.
Throughout his career, Hesketh collaborated with his, the two writing as "E & H Heron" and as "K and Hesketh Prichard". They created three popular characters: bandit Don Q; November Joe, and Flaxman Low, the first professional full-time Occult Detective

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Back strip significantly age toned, with boards age toned to perimeters. Bumping and minor losses of cloth to back strip head and tail. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd handling mark or instance of light spotting.
