What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Very Scarce

First edition.

Bound in full cloth, with the original blue paper wraps bound in.

Comprised of two volumes bound in one, containing the 'Report of His Majesty's Commissioners' and the 'Minutes of Evidence Taken Before the Royal Commission on the Port of London'.

This report was commissioned to investigate the management of the Port of London and make recommendations for improvements. At this time, London's main port was facing fierce competition from other British ports and was at risk of losing trade.

A comprehensive report, this document includes information surrounding many local businesses and workers, highlighting an array of potential issues.

Following this report's findings, the Port of London Authority (PLA) was established in 1908, an agency which still runs to this day.

Illustrated with three large folding plates.

With a number of library markings from Holborn and Camden Public Libraries.
