1902 Quain's Dictionary of Medicine
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
The scarce third edition of this medical dictionary credited to Irish physician Richard Quain.
In the original cloth binding.
This dictionary, which was one of Quain's major contributions to the world of medicine, became the bible of all medical practitioners in the United Kingdom, and was published in 1882 after seven years of meticulous preparation. The work, which includes definitions and descriptions of general pathology, general therapeutics, hygiene, and the diseases of women and children, filled a gap in contemporary medical writing.
Illustrated with twenty-three plates, nine of which are coloured. Collated, complete.
This edition was edited by H. Montague Murray, a physician who lectured at Charing Cross on practical medicine, pathology and medicine. He is also noted for making an early report of asbestos causing one man's lung scarring in 1906.
With sixteen pages of advertisements to the rear.
