A first edition copy of Players of the Day A Series of Portraits in Colour of the Theatrical Celebrities of the Present Time. 

This work contains a theatrical and playful collection of portraits of actors and players of the day, being a fascinating record of Victorian theatre history. 

All forty eight colour plates are present, picturing Miss Ellaline Terriss, Mr Walter Passmore, Miss Connie Ediss and others. 
Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some bumping to the head of the spine and some marks to the boards. Rear and front hinges are starting and weakening. Previous owner inscription dated 1903 to the front free endpaper. The first 6 pages are loose. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. First few pages have some scattered spots.
