A lovely copy of one of J. G. Wood's many publications.

A new edition, published posthumously, which expands upon the original publication.

Features a gilt 'Christ's Hospital' motif to front board, and gilt tooled decoration to the ribbed spine, as well as charming vignette illustrations throughout.

Contains a bookplate to the front pastedown, awarding this copy to a T. H. Evans 'for Arithmetic and Science' in July 1905. Awarded by the Governor's of Christ's Hospital London, one of the oldest boarding schools in the country, of which Samuel Pepys was once a governor.

Decorated with marbled page edges and endpapers.

Condition

Bound in full tree calf. Externally, in excellent condition. Slight rubbing to front board. The odd mark to boards. Small section of loss to leather to front board. Fading to spine. Prize bookplate to front pastedown. Bookseller sticker to rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Very infrequent spotting. Pages very bright and clean.
