This volume is a first edition. 

This work offers a history of the Smithfield Club which was presided over by the then Prince of Wales, and later King, Edward VII.

The club was in charge of organising the Smithfield Show, which ran annually from 1799 up until 2004. This particular work was intended to accompany the centenary show, but was instead published later, with the aim of charting the history of the club 1798 to 1900.

Illustrated with numerous plates throughout.

With errata slip.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in one or two small chips and closed tears to cloth and head and tail of spine., Endpapers slightly age toned with the odd spot. Slight rubbing to boards with the odd slight handling mark. Spine and extremities slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with one or two spots and handling marks to fore edge. Small ink annotation to page 19, adding correction from the errata slip.
