The first edition. Printed for private circulation only. Previously owned by Edmund Cresswell Peele, an individual mentioned within in the work, with his signature to the front free endpaper and title page. The Peele's were descendants of King Edward the 1st, with Edmund being the mayor of Shrewsbury from 1890. Illustrated with eighty-two monochrome plates depicting the family crests for the individuals mentioned within in the work. A genealogical study on the descendants of King Edward the 1st, written by Edward Ralph Serocold Skeels Gaskel. The work provides a breakdown and family tree for eighty-nine descendants of the Edward the 1st, breaking down their lineage, and depicting their family crests. In the publisher's original cloth. A very scarce work.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, damp staining to the boards, with light wear to the extremities, and small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplates of a 'Edmund Cresswell Peel', and 'Michael Cecil' to the front pastedown. Spotting to the endpapers with front hinge starting, and owner's signature to the front free endpaper and title. Internally, firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with only the odd minor spot of mark. An ideal candidate for re-binding.
