This set offers one anthology of poems and one short-story collection from renowned English writer Rudyard Kipling, most notable for 'The Jungle Book' and many short stories including 'The Man Who Would Be King'.
'Just So Stories for Little Children' (1902) is considered a classic amongst children's literature and is also among Kipling's best known works, depicting fantastic accounts of how various features of animals came to be. With twenty full pages of illustrations and a folding illustrated plate by the author.
'The Five Nations' (1903) divides the poems into two groups, with the first untitled and covering a wide range of subjects, and the other titled "Service Songs", which relates mostly to the experiences of British soldiers of the time.
Condition
In the original red cloth bindings. Externally, 'Just So Stories' is very smart, with minor shelf wear and fading to the spine. With more notable rubbing and bumping to the extremities of 'Five Nations', which is also marked to the boards. Contemporary bookplate of one Florence Kim Rolin to the front pastedown of 'Just So Stories'. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
