First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and fifteen colour plates with tissue guards. Collated complete. A detailed commentary on the life of Jesus Christ, arranged as a series of sermons. With titles such as: The Inevitable Christ, The Idyll of Bethlehem, His Own City, With the Children, and Twenty-four Hours with Jesus, amongst others. Written by John Watson, a minister of the Free Church of Scotland remembered as an author of fiction, and best known by his pen name Ian Maclaren. Illustrated by Corwin Knapp Linson, an American painter and illustrator.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding with gilt. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. A small closed tear to the half-title with library ink stamp to the front free endpaper and a number sticker to the front pastedown.
