An illustrated biography of the 8th Duke of Beaufort, with a history of the Somerset family and the Badminton Hunt. This work was written by the army chaplain Thomas Francis Dale (1848-1923), best known for his works on fox hunting and polo.
Henry Charles FitzRoy Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort (1824-1899), was a British peer, soldier, and Conservative politician. He served as Master of the Horse, Member of Parliament for East Gloucestershire, and Lord Lieutenant of Monmouthshire.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart and bright, with light shelf wear to the extremities and joints. Faint marks to the rear board. Front hinge is slightly strained but remains firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, except for a tidemark to the fore edge of the frontispiece and title page.
