A vanishingly scarce limited edition work, one of only fifty copies produced, with this being out of series. This copy was presented to Lady Knowles (nee Constance Elmslie).

Lady Knowles was the widow of Major-General Sir Charles Benjamin Knowles KCB, was a British Army office. With the bookplate of Lady Knowles's daughter, Esme Bowker, to the front pastedown.

Illustrated with a vignette to the title page, and five further plates. Collated, complete.

A comprehensive local history of the barony and parish of Lunan in Angus, tracing its ownership, genealogy and land tenure from the grant of the lands to the Abbey of Arbroath in 1189 through to the mid-19th century.

Condition

In a full morocco binding, with gilt detailing. Rubbing to back strip, with light edgewear to back strip tail. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
