A smart five-volume collection of works by English novelist and poet Maurice Hewlet. 

Comprising first and early editions published between 1901 and 1905, these volumes include some of Hewlett’s most celebrated writings, with works inspired by his travels and translations in Italy and The Forest Lovers, his best-known medieval romance.

This set includes: 

Earthwork Out of Tuscany (1901). Third, revised edition.

New Canterbury Tales (1901). First edition, published by Archibald Constable & Co., Westminster.

Little Novels of Italy (1902). First edition. 

The Forest Lovers: A Romance (1905). Reprint of the 1898 first edition. 

Fond Adventures: Tales of the Youth of the World (1905). First edition.

Condition

In a smart full crushed morocco binding by Hatchards. Externally, very smart. Bookplate of Anne Islington to front paste downs. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to morocco. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Tearing and chipping to lower fore edge of page xiii to “Earthwork”. Rubbing and bumping to upper corner of front board of “Little Novels”. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to first and last few leaves and fore edges.
