    First UK edition. Very scarce work. Set in New York in the late 1800s, this novel follows a young woman named Liane Delorme who is forced to wear a cambric mask to hide her identity. As Liane's past is slowly revealed, one man becomes increasingly obsessed with her, leading to a dangerous and thrilling romance. Written by Robert William Chambers, an American artist and fiction writer, best known for his book of short stories titled The King in Yellow. With publisher's advertisements to the rear.

    In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
