The first edition of this work by British lawyer and Judge John Alexander Strachey Bucknill, who served as Attorney General of Hong Kong, and Chief Justice of the Straits Settlements, while maintaining an interest in ornithology and lepidoptery.
Illustrated with six photogravures, thirteen vignette and full page illustrations, and with a folding colour map to the rear. The lower half of the folding map is lacking, otherwise collated, complete.
Rebound, with the endpapers renewed. Retaining the original half title.

Condition
Rebound in quarter morocco, with cloth covered boards. Endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with light spotting to photogravures, and pages facing them. The lower half of the folding map is lacking.
