A collection of the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish author who, athough a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, is best remembered for these literary fairy tales. Andersen's fairy tales, consisting of one hundred and fifty-six stories across an original nine volumes, have been translated into more than one hundred and twenty-five languages. They have become embedded in the Western collective consciousness, and present children with lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity. Including some of Andersen's best known tales, such as: The Red Shoes, The Nightingale, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Little Match Girl, and many others. Illustrated by Helen Isobel Mansfield Ramsey Stratton, a British artist and book illustrator.
Condition
Bound in half crushed morocco with cloth covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. A small split to the head of the spine with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout. Light age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
