A collection of stories written by American author Mary Noailles Murfree, published under her pen name Charles Egbert Craddock. The opening tale follows Hilary Knox, a young mountaineer who yearns for adventure and navigates a period of conflict in East Tennessee.
Murfree is considered by many to be Appalachia's first significant female writer and her work a necessity for the study of Appalachian literature.
Condition
In the original paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with shelf wear and a small loss to the spine head. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots throughout, heaviest to the endpapers.
