Two gardening guides written by British horticulturist, Theresa Earle. Earle was given the nickname "Radical Theresa" by her family and was invited to serve at Queen Victoria's court but refused in 1856. These works offer a charming collection of notes on subjects that captured the author's attention throughout the years. Whilst each month discusses gardening and nature to various extents, the topics are not limited to this. Earle also comments on her views of education, recipes, discusses her health and consequential health advice and much more throughout each volume.
Beautifully bound in crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards and decorative gilt tooling to the spines.
Condition
Bound in crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards. Endpapers and blanks renewed, half title retained. Externally very smart with slight fading to the spine and very minimal rubbing to the extremities and joints. Internally firmly bound with very lightly aged toned and generally clean pages with only the odd spot to volume 1.
