The whole collection is held in the original cloth-backed portfolio.

Offering a bright illustrative study of French furniture held at the South Kensington Museum, with thorough scaled drawings detailing the period and designs of each piece.

Each part opens with a list of descriptions of each of the furniture pieces, and each piece is illustrated first with a photographic plate and then a series of measured drawings. 

An early work from William George Paulson Townsend, an English artist, designer and editor. He produced and edited The Art Workers' Quarterly, which covered art and craft schools, guilds and societies of the time. 

Part 1 has two monochrome photographic plates and ten measured drawing plates.
