A complete fourteen-volume run of The Home Counties Magazine, a periodical devoted to the topography, history, folklore, antiquities, and local biography of London and the surrounding counties: Middlesex, Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, and Kent, during a period of rapid civic and architectural change.

Published annually from 1899 to 1912, the magazine became one of the most valuable documentary records of the region at the turn of the twentieth century, preserving parish histories, historic houses, church monuments, archaeological discoveries, manor and estate records, and vanishing local customs. 

The early volumes were edited by W. J. Hardy (1857–1919), archivist and Deputy Keeper of the Public Record Office, well known for his expertise in historical manuscripts and for promoting local historical research based on primary sources.

From 1905 the editorship passed to W. Paley Baildon (1859–1924), the antiquary and fellow of the Royal Historical Society, who continued the magazine’s scholarly tone while expanding coverage of rural and architectural subjects.
