A first edition.

Ernest Law surveys the principal paintings, tapestries, and decorative works housed at Hampton Court Palace, providing notes on their subjects, provenance, and artistic significance, while also placing these pieces within the broader history of the palace and its royal associations.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and forty-eight images on plates. Collated, complete.

Former owner's inscriptions to front free endpaper, and a bookplate to rear pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, back strip age toned and bumped to head and tail. Front hinge strained but only a touch tender. Inscription to front free endpaper, bookplate to rear pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, but with title page detached and loosely inserted. Pages lightly age toned, with the odd spot.
