First edition. Written by Hilaire Belloc, a Franco-English author and historian, known for his satirical writings and work as a political activist. His works were heavily influenced by his catholic faith. Belloc's poems were satirical but with a strong moral undertone. Illustrated by Belloc's long-time collaborator Basil Temple Blackwood whose style was often described as German Expressionism.

Condition

In the original quarter cream cloth with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd handling mark. Age toning to the endpapers.
