Fridtjof Nansen is considered a legend of Norway, gaining prominence throughout his life as an explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian and co-founder of the Fatherland League. He led a number of Arctic expeditions and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1922 for his relief work after World War I.
In this volume he offers a fascinating account of the expedition that became the first to cross Greenland's inland, in which he led five of his companions.
