A large folio volume comprising fifty-three full-page plates reproducing historic wrought-iron and cast-iron designs from objects held in the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert Museum). Collated, complete.
The plates illustrate ornamental hinges, locks, screens, railings, grilles, gates, balcony work, and architectural ironmongery
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Discreet stamp from Assay Office Library, Birmingham. Slight discolouration to boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. The odd slight handling mark. Spine slightly faded. Hinges cracked, with binding materials slightly exposed, but holding. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned with one or two spots, more so to firt and last few leaves.
