Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, fifty-one plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete. 

Nansen's exciting first hand account of his 1893 to 1896 Norwegian Polar Expedition, also known as the Fram expedition. The Fram expedition was an attempt by Nansen to reach the geographical North Pole. Though they did not reach their goal, they did achieve a record Farthest North latitude. This account was an instant success, feeding the public's fascination of Polar exploration.

A two volume complete set.

Condition

In the publisher's original decorative cloth. Externally smart with minimal edgewear, including a small closed tear to the head of the spine to 'vol I', minimal marks to the boards and a small closed tear to the joint to the rear. Offsetting and spotting to the endpapers, front hinge starting and lacking front free endpaper to 'Vol I'. Internally, lacking the preliminary pages from the frontispiece to the folding map to 'Vol I', 'Vol II' is firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
