The 109th thousandth, published in the same year as the first French trade edition, of this work in a full calf binding, with all edges stained green.

Previous owner's ink inscription to the front blank, dated July 1898.

Edmond Rostand's famous play written in the original French. Cyrano de Bergerac, an eloquent and gifted cadet who is ashamed of his large nose, romances the beautiful and intelligent Roxane, through love letters purportedly written by Christian de Neuvillette.

The play, written entirely in verse, has been translated and performed many times.

The first French trade edition was published after the limited edition of fifty copies. This is the 109th thousandth, published in the same year as the first French trade edition.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with faint marks to the boards and a little cracking to the head of the front joint. Small tear to the head of the spine, causing the leather backstrip to lift slightly. Small loss to the tail of the spine. Light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Internally, firmly bound. Marginal age toning to pages which are otherwise clean.
