What Our Customers Say...

The very scarce first edition of the work.

In publisher's original decorative beige cloth binding with gilt to top fore edge.

With 19 plates and illustrations throughout. Collated, complete.

This eclectic account of English gardening by The Countess of Warwick, Francis Evelyn 'Daisy' Greville. The Countess, although prominent in late Victorian high society and coined as a renowned beauty, was also a prominent socialist. She campaigned many schemes to help the poor in education, housing, employment and pay, and was often known as the 'Red Countess'.

This volume highlights The Countess' passion for gardening, for she was heavily involved in the gardening of the Easton Hall estate that she inherited at the age of three. She also established the Studley Castle Agricultural College to teach women agricultural and gardening skills, in order to improve the opportunities for the education of women.
